ALL Face to FACE Classes now SUSPENDED Until Further Notice, BUT some classes are continuing with Zoom.

14 March 2020

Dear Member,

As some of you may be aware, following the cancellation of our classes at Fiddlers Green our Vice President and I were quite busy trying to arrange the transfer of the affected classes to other venues.   It was our intention to try and rescue our whole program.  I would like to thank all of you who responded to our queries.  I also had offers of help from some ordinary members.

As quick as we were, events around us were even quicker.  We were advised that classes and events at Bunjil Place Library were cancelled due to the virus situation.   I then noticed that advice on the DHHS website had changed and we were no longer being advised to “carry on as normal”.

The advice locally, nationally and even globally seems to be that to defeat the spread of this horrible virus we must take actions to curtail our normal social activities.

The Management Committee of Casey U3A have therefore, reluctantly taken the decision that ALL of our classes will be postponed with immediate effect and until further notice.  By ALL we mean every single class at every venue including those in private homes.   The venues that we use at Selandra, Lynbrook and The Old Cheese Factory will be notified early next week.   Some of you may wish to find a way to carry on in some way but if you do it will not be covered by Casey U3A.

If any of you come across any information please let us know.

Up until now we had every hope that this was going to be a record year with 54 individual classes being offered.  Our membership for 2020 had already reached 379.

We have every hope that this situation will soon be over and we can get back on track.  Equally we have to be prepared for the long haul.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Colin Whitney
